Vintage Sterling Silver Operculum Choker Necklace

Heavy vintage Operculum necklace is marked sterling on the clasp and has been tested as sterling, and measures 15 3/4 inches end to end.  The circles have a diameter of a little over 5/8 inch, and the weight of the necklace is 68.8 grams.  A matching bracelet is available under a separate listing.  Operculum is a part of a tropical marine snail that was popular in jewelry making in the late 1800's during the Victorian era and then again in the 1940's - 1950's.  During the Victorian period, the jewelry was popularized as warding off evil spirits since it resembles and evil eye.
